1. Who we are
The investinu.com.au website and the Fieldbook app are run by Lehg Up Consulting, trading as Investinu (ABN 52 637 395 576) ("we", "us"). This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through the website and the app. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988.
2. What we collect on the website
When you join the early-access list, we collect:
- your first name and email address;
- your state or territory (or that you live outside Australia);
- the year level of each of your children (we never ask for their names);
- your homeschooling situation, for example "We homeschool now";
- if you came to us through a partner's link, which partner it was. We use it only to credit that partner, and we never share your details with them.
When you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, the topic you choose and your message.
When you visit the website, Google Analytics collects information about how you use it (see section 6). Our servers also keep short-term technical logs, such as IP addresses, to keep the site secure and working.
3. What we collect in the Fieldbook app
When your family uses Fieldbook, we collect and store:
- the account owner's name and email address, and the names and email addresses of any grown-ups or tutors you invite;
- each child's first name, year level and the details you choose to add;
- your family's plans, timetable and calendar;
- your children's learning records: activities, ticks, hand-ins, notes, photos and other work, and curriculum progress;
- what you record about life experiences, such as trips, sport and music;
- help requests, nudges and messages between grown-ups and children inside Fieldbook;
- your plan and billing history (but never your card details).
Kid mode. Children use Fieldbook through your family's account in kid mode. A grown-up signs in on the device, and each child taps their own name. Children don't have their own accounts, passwords or email addresses.
Speech. In the app on iPhone and iPad, speech recognition works entirely on the device, using Apple's on-device speech feature. The microphone is on only while someone holds or taps the speak button. No audio is recorded, kept or sent, to us or to Apple. Only text a person confirms is saved to the family's record, and reading follow-along results are shown, then discarded. The first time, iOS may download Apple's speech files for your language. If a device can't recognise speech on the device, typing works instead; nothing is sent to a server. A grown-up can turn speech off for each child. Fieldbook on the web doesn't use your microphone.
Photos and camera. A grown-up can add photos of a child's work, taken with the camera or chosen from the photo library. Fieldbook sees only the photos you choose, never your whole library. In the app on iPhone and iPad, photos are resized and their location and other hidden details are removed on the device before they're sent. In kid mode, a child can scan a book's barcode: the scan happens on the device, no image is kept or sent, and only the book's number is sent when the child adds the book.
Other on-device features. Leaving kid mode with Face ID happens on the device: iOS tells Fieldbook only yes or no, and no face data reaches us. Read-aloud voices, and the option to tidy a grown-up's session note with Apple Intelligence, also run on the device.
Technical information from the app. The app on iPhone and iPad has no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting tools, and its logs stay on the device. It sends its version number to our service, so we can ask you to update an old version. Microsoft's sign-in service receives sign-in diagnostics as part of signing you in. If you've chosen to share crash reports with app developers in your device's settings, Apple collects them and shares them with us.
4. How we use it
We use your information to:
- run Fieldbook for your family and keep your records;
- add you to the early-access list, tell you when your place is ready, and whether you're a founding family;
- take payments and send receipts and account emails, such as trial and renewal reminders;
- reply to messages and help with support requests;
- understand which states and year levels families need, so we build the right activities next;
- keep the website and the app secure, and protect them from spam and misuse.
We don't sell your information, we don't use it for advertising, and we don't show advertising to children.
5. Payments
If you subscribe on the website, Stripe takes the payment. If you subscribe in the app on iPhone or iPad, Apple takes the payment through the App Store. Your card details go to Stripe or Apple, and we never see or store them. Both handle payment information under their own privacy terms, and both may process it outside Australia.
6. Analytics and cookies
We use Google Analytics on the website to count visits and see which pages are useful. It sets cookies in your browser. We have switched off Google signals and advertising personalisation, and we never send Google your name, email or anything you type into a form. Analytics is used on the website only, never inside the Fieldbook app. You can block these cookies in your browser settings or with Google's opt-out add-on.
7. Where your information is stored
Our application, database, file storage, backups, logs and the emails we send are hosted in Microsoft Azure in Australia (Sydney). This covers your family's information, early-access details and contact messages. Each family's information is kept separate from every other family's. Sign-in is provided by Microsoft Entra External ID: your account is stored in Australia, but some sign-in processing, including sign-in code emails, may happen outside Australia. If you choose to sign in with Google, Google handles that sign-in under its own privacy terms. Payments are processed by Stripe, and in-app purchases by Apple, and both may process data outside Australia. Google may process website analytics data outside Australia, including in the United States. Each does so under its own privacy terms.
8. How long we keep it
- Your family's information: for as long as your plan continues. When your plan ends, your family's account stays read-only for 90 days, so you can see and download everything. Then your family's information is permanently deleted, and we email you beforehand.
- Backups: after information is deleted, it can stay in our encrypted backups for a time. We keep a weekly database backup for up to a year, plus 35 days of point-in-time recovery, and deleted files are recoverable for up to a year. Backups are stored in Australia (Sydney). Then they're removed too. We never restore it for any other purpose.
- Early-access details: up to 2 years after you join, then deleted automatically.
- Contact messages: 12 months after you send them, then deleted automatically.
- Technical logs: kept for a short period for security, then deleted.
You can ask us to delete your information sooner at any time.
9. Children
The website is for parents and carers, and we don't knowingly collect children's personal information through it. In the app, children's information is added and controlled by their parent or carer, through the family account. We use it only to run Fieldbook for that family. We never sell it, use it for advertising, or share it with other families.
10. Who can see your family's information
Only the grown-ups in your family account, and the tutors or grown-ups you invite for the children and time you choose. Our team can access it only when needed to support you or keep Fieldbook running. The partners we use to run Fieldbook (Microsoft for hosting, sign-in and email, Google for sign-in if you choose it, and Stripe and Apple for payments) handle it only to provide their services to us.
11. Your choices and rights
- Every email we send that isn't about your account has an unsubscribe link.
- The account owner can download your family's information or delete the account at any time.
- You can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it or delete it. Use the contact form at investinu.com.au/contact and choose "My family's data".
We'll confirm it's you before we share or change anything.
12. Security
We keep your information in access-controlled systems with encryption in transit and at rest. Only the people and services that need it can reach it. If a data breach is likely to cause serious harm, we'll tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as the law requires.
13. Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, tell us through the contact form and we'll look into it. If you're still not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
14. Changes to this policy
We'll update this policy when our practices change, and show the date of the latest version at the top. If a change is significant, we'll tell account owners and people on the early-access list by email.
15. Contact us
